Which is the bravest nation
Joined: Feb 26, Messages: I agree heartily with Poland and Korea. The Poles not only survived countless Russian and German invasions, but they also played an importnat role in bringing down both of those empires: The Poles contributed an incredible amount to the allied cause for a nation that was occupied, and they're revolts in the late 80's and early 90's help to break apart Russias empire.
Woe to those who mess with the Poles, they'll get you in the end. Korea has also been justly mentioned several times, they have been in a similar situation to Polands for more than years, I know many Koreans and their some of the most fiercely nationalistic people I know. I'd like to add the Native tribes of Western North America, sure they got a pretty raw deal, but while many native Americans on th East coast who were compleatly obliterated, the Plains Natives fought until they were able to at least hold onto some land, and today despite all the problems, they're populations are larger than at the time of the European arrival.
They may not have been able to prevent massive European immigration, but they survived overwhelming odds when many of their fellow Americans were destoyed. Dolemitetornado , Jan 18, Verbose , Jan 18, Personally I find the notion that a nation can be described as "brave" or otherwise pointless. Even in the Italian armed forces during WW2 there were remarkably brave soldiers and formations who fought to the best of their ability and well, and I'm sure we could find examples of the opposite amongst even the highest thought of professional armies and nations.
Finland is considered brave considering they gave e Soviet Union one hell of a fight during the WW2. TrailblazingScot , Jan 18, As for a country that epitomises people being brave: I'd choose Scots as hopeless, but brave and the Russians as having stock that is amongst the bravest of the brave There are many Americans and Chinese and Japanese that could be considered "brave" if they weren't either simply too dim to notice realise they are in danger or "mad". Scotland the Brave Hark, when the night is falling Hear, hear the pipes are calling Loudly and proudly calling Down through the Glen.
There where the hills are sleeping Now feel the blood a-leaping High as the spirits Of the old highland men. Chorus: Towering in gallant fame Scotland my mountain hame High may your proud standards Gloriously wave! Land of my high endeavor Land of the shining river Land of my heart forever Scotland the brave! A survey from InterNations, the largest global network and information site for people who live and work abroad, has looked at data and comments supplied by almost 13, expats from countries and territories to reveal which are the friendliest countries in the world to live.
Where do you think the USA ranked? The recent talks with North Korea have brought renewed attention to that nation — and to the extremely repressive nature of its government. By any measure, North Korea is one of the most repressive countries in the world. However, North Korea is not the only country with a dismal human rights record. Videos News India. Latest Stories. Sharif has come close on several occasions but always stopped short of calling for the ouster of the ruling party. Last year Zardari dismissed Sharif's government in the Punjab, and Sharif was also briefly detained. The overthrow of any government is impossible without the endorsement of the Army, which continues to call the shots on foreign policy and national security. The Army runs Pakistan's largest corporate empire. It is in every line of business, including hairdressing.
And while it is the country's only truly egalitarian organization, where pluck ensures social advancement and the fulfillment of the Pakistani dream, its growth has come entirely at the expense of other institutions and has starved public-sector development.
Each time it has assumed power, the country has lost ground—literally and metaphorically—starting with the handing over to China of a part of Kashmir in The petrodollar- and U.
Under Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the Army has consciously been working to redeem itself by overt displays of professional, apolitical conduct. It's been given a fillip by its operations against the Taliban in Swat and South Waziristan, its handling of the refugee crisis from Swat, and the rescue and relief efforts after the floods. Military and civilian autocrats have always been able to bend the judiciary to suit their wishes.
This changed in when Pervez Musharraf, the last of the country's four military rulers, tried to fire Chaudhry because of his growing independence. When Chaudhry, who had sworn an oath of allegiance to the Musharraf administration in , refused to back down, the lawyers' movement was born.
The movement—an unprecedented, largely peaceful nationwide mobilization of lawyers, civil-society activists, and political parties—was fueled by Chaudhry's everyman heroism and permanently weakened Musharraf.
