PC7 is somehow connected to the trunk and is sending untagged frames. There is another very important angle to this concept. Let's first see how we can check the operational mode and the native VLAN on any trunk port using the command show interface switchport. Let's change it to be another value. This is done using the switchport trunk native vlan command in interface configuration mode.
Always have in mind that this configuration is locally significant and has to be manually configured to match on both sides of the trunk link otherwise a faulty sate occurs. Interface Trunk configuration is locally significant. This means that the Trunk settings on one switchport do not have to exactly match the settings on the other side of the link. Cisco proprietary protocol CDP can detect this misconfiguration and report with error messages as shown below.
No devices on our network are using vlan except the vlan interface I setup on the Extreme switch and the vlan interface I setup on the new Cisco Switch for management. Trunk, interface, and vlan come up. Internal network ok now, but some external devices that communicate to us from the internet lose connectivity, it also started affected our ip phone traffic as calls started dropping.
I'm not that familiar with MPLS. We just use a VPN to connect to that branch now. Could this be the culprit? Does MPLS point to a specific mac address? I've posted a form of this question about 3 different times but haven't got a solution yet. Kind of disappointed with the responses. I only receive a response when it is a new question. No one ever follows up after the first response even after I update the link. I've ordered a used extreme networks switch to replace the cisco switch and I will see if the problem persists.
I didn't want to shotgun the solution as I really want to know why this is happening, but I'm out of ideas. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. If any mismatch is found in native, allowed, or access VLANs, both switches will display an alert in the dashboard. The switches will continue displaying the alert until the VLAN mismatch is resolved.
Multiple alerts will show up if there are multiple ports on the switch with mismatches detected. Displayed alerts are automatically checked and generated about once every 40 minutes.
